Captains of africa - the anthem

As part of the Captains Of Africa series, Tu and Nick were also asked to create a pan-African anthem and associated music promo. Having an extensive list of artists from across the continent that they could draw from, it was a matter of who they thought would be the best fit for a contemporary pan-African sound, eventually settling on Blinky Bill.

With Nick’s background in both the electronic music scene and ethno-musicology, he and Tu worked closely with Bill to create a track that would resonate with the contemporary sound coming out of Africa at the moment, while also drawing subtly on traditional references from all parts of Africa, including the seben from Congo’s soukous.
